One two-month voyage through the Australian Coast was terminated following the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the ship staff became aware the lady was not present.

A major hunt found her remains the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the incident, alongside law enforcement and the state coroner.

The ship first departed Cairns on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the moment of the elderly woman's demise. Lizard Island was the opening port on the journey.
