Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. This character has the ability to transform into an perfect replica of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the source material and animated series.

Escola joins several other new cast members set to bring Baroque Works to the screen, such as chief Mr. 0, brought to life by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as the monarch of Alabasta.

Although the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the plot development.

Their mix of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
