New information has come to light concerning the shocking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.

A source indicates quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

The source also disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
