Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' new album, the new release, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's home record, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
