Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The track features a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”
The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
